Soi Chaiyapoon Pattaya

Canterbury Tales Guest House and Book Exchange.

Soi Chaiyapoon is a developing soi in South Pattaya. There are several guest houses offering accommodation from 400 baht per night. Some have WiFi.

At Canterbury Tales (pictured here) you can rent or exchange books from the extensive library shelves that run the whole length of the inside wall.

They have Thai and Western food on the menu. They even have rhubarb pie.

There are also restaurants, beer bars, and massage shops in the soi.

Down the soi about twenty meters on the right is a foot massage shop pictured here at the left . Some of these foot massage shops will offer a bit more than just a foot massage. Just massaging a bit further above the knees and thigs and so on.

Soi Chaiyapoon has at least seven to ten of these foot massage shops with sweet ladies ready to go to another level including Jasmine foot massage opposite Canterbury Tales.

A good sense of humor.

A foot massage will cost you around 200 baht for one hour. It's well worth it, especially after a night of trekking and bar hopping.

Halfway down the soi on the left walking away from Canterbury Tales is the Seaside Restaurant. This is a great spot for fish and chips with mushy peas.Usually the fish and chips cost 110 baht. There are many Western meals (mainly British) available for around 60 to 70 baht.

Soi Chaiyapoon road surface is badly in need of repair with lots of bumps and holes big enough for your foot to squeeze into. So take care when walking.

The bad state of repair and speed bumps offers one advantage; you are less likely to encounter speeding vehicles such as motorbikes racing along the soi.

Tip: If it has been raining don't wear your long trousers to Soi Chaiyapoom there will be deep puddles of water everywhere. You might just tread in one or be splashed by a passing vehicle.

The other gender.

About 20 meters further along Soi Chaiyapoon from Seaside Restaurant is a short time bar. The picture titled "A sense of humor" was taken there. This girl openly demonstrates the Thai sense of humor.

Move to the 'The other gender" picture and guess what gender the Thai person is. Yes there is even a few of those of those bars in Soi Chaiyapoon. Some are mixed in with the girls. So if you are not into same sex be careful.

Some can easily be mistaken for female especially if you are tanked up. That said they are usually polite enough to reveal their gender before negotiations proceed.

The photo titled "Another foot massage shop" was taken of two bars Whiskers and Barbie located opposite Canterbury Tales restaurant and guest house.

Imagine you have checked in to Canterbury Tales for a two week stay. You stand at the entrance to the hotel and across the street you see this bar full of smiling bar girls.

"Hmmm" you think to yourself "how convenient I'll hook up with one of those girls." You might be making a big mistake.

Live Music

At one of the bars in Soi Chaiyapoon live music bands perform around five nights a week. That is the Triangle Bar. Some of the most talented musicians in Thailand perform at this bar.

Some local tribute bands such as, “The Bangkok Beatles” and “The Thai Bee Gees”, also perform at this venue.

The Triangle Bar uses the two for one price drink purchasing policy. So the cost of your first drink of beer will be 120 baht.

So what they are saying is that normally the price of a drink in their bar is 120 baht but we will sell you two drinks for a total of 120 baht. So your drinks cost you 60 baht each.

The Triangle bar is located on the left as you walk into the soi from Soi Baukhao.
