Beaches & Islands

The main Pattaya beach is bordered by Beach Road which has a continuous stream of traffic during the day. If you would like to get away from the traffic and hawkers there are several beaches along the mainland near Pattaya.

Ko Lan
Look across the ocean from Jomtien Beach or any beach in the Pattaya area and you will see Ko Lan.
Lan island can be reached by ferry from the jetty in Pattaya. The ferry trip takes 40 minutes and costs under 100 baht per person. Popularly known as Coral Island Koh Lan is situated about 7.7 Kilometers from the shoreline of Pattaya Beach. It occupies an area of about 4 square kilometers.
There are beautiful beaches, clear water, and some coral, not a lot but some. Visitors can view the coral from a glass-bottom boat. Ta Waen Beach in the northern part of the Island, is a 750 meter stretch of white sand with many stalls and shops. Sightseeing boats mostly dock in this area so it can get quite crowded.

Boat charters cost from 1000 to 5000 baht per day depending on the size of the boat and the season.
Bang Saray Fishing Village
Just a few more kilometers down the road from Nong Nouch you will find this delightful seaside village offering deep sea fishing excursions and sea food restaurants on the water's edge. Drive along the beach about one kilometer from the town and you will find a park with outdoor restaurants and kiosks. The food is good and reasonably priced. More details about how to get there and things to do can be read in Pattaya Promise e-book.
Pattaya Park
A great place to take the kids or your sweetheart. Waterslides and fun rides are the main attractions of this water
theme park. The main pool is a winding canal type layout. Water is pumped into the pool in such a way that it creates a slight current.
If you float on your back or water wings you can complete a whole circuit of the pool without a kick or a stroke.
The park has the highest tower in Pataya with a revolving restaurant. Take a flying fox or gondola ride from the top of the tower to ground level. Totaling 32 acres it is located close to the beach front.
Wongamart Beach

This beach is getting closer to the tropical paradise kind of beach you would expect to find in Asia. There is no continuous stream of traffic running along it's edge like you find along Pattaya Beach Road and Jhomtien Beach ( Jomtien Beach ) yet it is close to the city.
There are fewer vendors than on the main beaches but some. It is popular with German tourists. Good food, lots of shade , sun, sand, and slightly cleaner sea.

Warning: Some unscrupulous taxi drivers will charge 10 times the regular rate to transport you to this beach. Our Pattaya Promise e-book lists the regular rates for taxis, baht busses and motorbike taxis and offers advice about how to avoid some of the traps which may be encountered while using the local transport.
